Nairobi, October 13, 2005 (The Agencies) – The government is advising Kenyans to avoid sailing to the Somalia ‎Coastline following a series of cargo ship hijackings.‎
Spokesman Alfred Mutua terms as "worrisome" the rising number of incidents of piracy and kidnapping ‎witnessed, of which Kenyans have fallen victim.‎

‎3 Mombasa registered cargo ships have been hijacked by pirates along the Coastline in the past 3 months, and ‎the International Maritime Bureau says there've been at least 20 attacks on ships in Somalias waters since March. ‎

Mutua now says the government is in discussions with Somalia's transitional government to check the incidents.‎At the same time, the United Nations World Food Programme is looking into transporting relief food to Somalia by ‎road.‎
The agent of the three ships Karim Udrati is now threatening to withdraw his vessels from ferrying relief food to the ‎war torn country until security is assured.‎
