‎The great Somali poet Maxamed Xaashi Dhamac 'Gaarriye' arriving in UK to take part in the World Poets' Tour ‎during October. He will be giving readings at a number of literary events around the UK (including Cardiff, ‎Manchester, Ilkley, Derby, Brighton) reading his poems in Somali. The poems have been translated by myself and ‎Maxamed Xasan 'Alto' with final versions having been worked up by the leading English poet David Harsent and ‎these will also be read. ‎

There will be a major event at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS on Thursday 13th October at 7:30 where Gaarriye will be ‎reading with Al-Sadiq Al-Raddi from Sudan and Partaw Naderi from Afghanistan, both major poets in their ‎countries. Tickets can be reserved on 020 7898 4367 or email: gh17@soas.ac.uk ‎
