Stop Railroading Of The New Mps ‎In Somaliland

By Rhoda Rageh, UAE

This is a note of congratulations and encouragement to the two women who have recently succeeded in parliamentary elections. My hat is off to both of them. They have succeeded against all odds. They have put up a serious fight and have overcome a monumental obstacle to be where they are. Whether they know it or not, they have become pioneers of new frontiers for the women of Somaliland who might have aspirations for political office. I pray to Allah that they become pioneers of justice and liberty for our country. They represent not only women but sincere Somalilanders whose sole interest is to lift our land up to higher standards. I want them to fill the void consistently left by men. I want them to be not politicians for him or him but public servants for their country. I want them to trust their instints on what is right and never shy away to challenge those whill frustrate, threaten or slander their dignity. They might have gained access from the opposite regions of the land but I hope their mission to change the rules of engagement in our country is the one thing that unites them. I want them to remember that they have earned their respect, have wined their access to public office and have becomes trusted pioneers of our land because of our democracy and they should therefore protect the root of their success. I am particularly proud of Ikram Haji Da'ud who has shown a remarkable energy to get things done right. Keep it up and May Allah be with you.
