In my last short article titled, “Rayale Paints Himself In A Corner,” which appeared on ‎www.somaliland.org on October 27, 2005, which is accessible on this link: ‎www.somaliland.org/opinions.asp?ID=05102705, I briefly discussed some characteristics of a real ‎politician and talked about some simple techniques that a politician requires to grasp in order to excel ‎in his art and further emphasized the importance of “timing” in politics as well as the necessity of ‎knowing What to raise, When to raise, and Where to raise an issue in order that that issue may garner ‎the intended effect or have the maximum impact. In addition, I discussed about the usual deafening and ‎intentional silence of the president at critical times when the entire nation is on its toes and demanding ‎his prompt intervention or to address the nation in order to clarify important national issues at hand, ‎and further explained the manner in which he usually breaks his silence and enters the fray late with a ‎mediocre salvo or bang, which often embarrasses and disappoints the expectations of both his domestic ‎and international audiences.‎

On the other hand, the magnificent piece titled, “Open Letter To: The President Of Somaliland,” by ‎Prof. Ahmed Al-Azhari, which also appeared on www.somaliland.org website on October 31, 2005, ‎which is accessible on this ink: www.somaliland.org/opinons.asp?ID=05103100 , similarly discussed ‎many important issues including the necessity of the What, When, and Where of an issue and further ‎contained invaluable advise and admonitions and the need for the president and his administration to ‎heed.‎

Although both the writings of the professor and mine were not coordinated, certainly our intentions ‎were to awaken, enlighten and admonish both the president and the politicians and hoped that they will ‎all learn something out of these writings. But that was not the case and both of our efforts and that of ‎other Somalilanders on this regard went down the drain and fell on deaf ears as usual!‎

Folks, it is déjà vu. With the recent unsomalilander, unnationalistic, unpolitical, undiplomatic, and ‎undemocratic actions of our young, unqualified, and inexperienced Minister of National Planning who ‎to the surprise of both the public and international community declared the Field Officer/Head of the ‎European Commission’s office in Hargeisa as persona non grata and who further blamed the official ‎for unsubstantiated allegation of meddling in the internal affairs of the country and corruption of EU ‎funds, which immediately triggered the timely condemnation of the government by the intrepid ‎opposition parties as well as by the civil society organizations and the Diaspora Somalilanders and ‎coupled by the outcry of the general public who have all demanded that both the Minister and the ‎Administration to fully substantiate their serious allegations and to quickly rescind their illegal actions ‎in order to salvage the good image of this country that is constantly being tarnished by the stupid ‎actions and the need to safeguard the ever growing healthy relations between Somaliland and the ‎European Union and the rest of the international community, the president of the Republic of ‎Somaliland is intentionally silent about this sensitive issue and as usual lying low, while colossal ‎damage is being done to the international image of this nation in its efforts to achieve political ‎recognition from the world!!‎

As a result of this serious development in our nation, I would like to clearly state here that the ‎president’s intervention in this grave matter is long over due and in the event that his silence may sour ‎the healthy and growing relationship between Somaliland and the European Union and in the ‎eventuality of the European Commission’s Office closure in Hargeisa, the president is fully culpable ‎and impeachable.‎

I therefore urge the president to be pragmatic and to pressure his blind minister to quickly rescind his ‎order to expel the Field Officer of the European Union or to resign or to be fired accordingly.‎

It is that simple Mr. President! You have heard it loud and clear. It is either the personal interest of ‎your young, unqualified, undiplomatic, and inexperience Minister/Cousin or the national interest of ‎Somaliland. The choice is yours! ‎
