A Reply To Shoon Omar

KULMIYE Is The Alternative, Dear Dhimbiil

First, in public discourse, one should expect everything and anything and one ought to debate the issues and be prepared to account for one's literature. I for one am really amazed that the writer took the "Dhimbiil is a clannist line", something that I will not venture into because I believe the public record is more sophisticated than that simple claim. As well, Somalis tend to throw that monkey wrench when all things are considered, simply because it jettisons that old work ethic of thinking and writing one's ideas bereft of simplicity - but that dear reader is not the tradition is it? We are more inlined to take on the "person" rather than the "issues" and when one takes a line it is easy to claim clannism and thus let loose the dogs of confusion. However, being an old hand, and having gone through epic wars on these issues I will let Shoon Omar slide for I think she is a novice on that process -but that is to anticipate.

On Awil, yes I hear he is doing a good job, if Shoon had cared to check the public record you would have known my opinions about our Minister of Finance. Secondly, I was not going to reply to this really rudimentary assessments you have made, nor start a debate on "me" I am not a celebrity just a writer about my country and people and "i" shouldn’t be the issue here.

On Rayale, he has bungled a lot of issues, but I never said we were wrong in electing him, there is a fine difference between elections and accountability, I don’t believe that once elected one should be left alone, again Shoon, if you had checked the public - I don’t believe you have understood what I write - you would have found that the government has suffered from my leading a charge of the light brigade against them. (For your purposes, this is how I write and you should look up this historical pun about the charge of the light brigade It will enlighten you about what I write and how I write where I believe the confusion for comes from)

On The opposition, I am in the opposition, and I believe no one should be coroneted nor idealized nor beutified, nor loved, this is politics: and as Holmes would argue some things are just elementary! So, I hope you still believe in something called democracy, and insulting 45% of the people in Somaliland who voted their feelings - whether you like it or not, including giving them 33 seats in the house, it is the process of democracy that we should respect. Ms Shoon, I hope I am not making a mistake of the "Ms" forgive me if I am, however, that type of elitist arrogance is what brought the dictatorship. People are the ones who have the right to choose you can disagree, but, to really criminalize nearly half the population of this country just because they disagree with your views from Ottawa over who they should have chose - is, to make an understatement, disrespectful!

Lastly, and more ominous, I don’t understand why you are concerned with Somaliland , having not known you and living in the same Town, I checked the Internet to familiarize my self with your work. Lo and behold there you are holding a meeting in support of Abdillahi Yusuf and the TFG!

And for the benefit of readers here is the URL... you be the judge!
