Detectives investigating the murder of a student outside a cafe today released descriptions of two men they want to question.

Nureni Mumin Sheikh, 19, from Manor Park in London, died after being shot twice in Moss Side, Greater Manchester, at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Officers responded to reports that a man had been shot outside the Zaku cafe in Claremont Road.

Mr Sheikh was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary but died shortly after arrival.

Today Superintendent Neil Wain of Greater Manchester Police said officers were hunting two men in connection with the incident.

Both were described as 5ft 9ins or 5ft 10 ins, of black or mixed race, and were wearing balaclavas and gloves at the time of the shooting.
They were believed to have left the scene on foot.

Mr Wain said: “We have no motive at this stage.

“We are very interested in any information that could lead to the arrest of these individuals and we would ask anybody with any information to contact police immediately.”

Mr Sheikh was originally from Somalia but had been living in the UK for about 10 years.

A police spokeswoman said that he was thought to have been attending a wedding celebration or engagement party at a nearby mosque just before he was shot.

She added: “There’s nothing in his background to suggest any links to any gangs here.

“There’s nothing to suggest he had any involvement in criminality himself.

Said Jama, from the Somaliland Community Centre nearby, said the Somali community was very upset by the shooting.
He added: “We are very sad, we are in mourning. He had nothing to do with gangs or drugs.

“We are getting very worried that this could be the beginning of something.”
