Nairobi, June 04, 2004 (Daily Nation) – A week after the Government intervened to have Somali warlord Hussein Aideed released from prison, a Kenyan businessman wants him to deposit in court Sh15 million as security.

Yesterday, Mr Job Thiga appeared before acting judge Mary Kasango under a certificate of urgency, saying his client, Mr Ijaz Ganijee, feared that Mr Aideed might leave the country before a Sh15 million debt was settled following a judgment issued five years ago.

The application was filed in court when it emerged that Sh5 million was yet to be deposited in the Milimani Commercial Court as security. Mr Ganijee, in the suit papers filed yesterday, said he had unsuccessfully sought the intervention of Foreign Affairs permanent secretary and the chairman of the Somali peace talks.

The lawyer argued that the warlord was out of prison for failing to pay the Sh15 million debt.
