Hargeisa, July 24, 2004 (SL Times) – 22 Somaliland women received training on the techniques of conducting an effective election campaigning. The women trainees consisted of members of political parties and civil society organizations.

The 4-day workshop was organized by Nagaad, which brings together most of Somaliland’s women organizations. The workshop came close on Tuesday.

According to Nagaad’s Kinsi Hussein Qawdhan, the women were also trained on “good governance and democracy”.
The trainees came from Hargeisa, Salahley, Bali-Gubadle and Gabiley. Kinsi said similar trainings were also conducted in other regions in Somaliland.

“We provided training for women in Borama, Berbera, Burao, Erigavo and the Sool region’s Ainabo,” she added.

Kinsi said 100 women participated in the political training for women activists.

Nagaad’s successful interventions on behalf of Somaliland women are mainly supported by the international NGO NOVIB.
