Bosasso, July 24, 2004 (SL Times) – Mohamed Ali Abdi, the son of Puntland’s minister for Municipal Affairs, was shot and killed Thursday morning while driving his car in Bosasso. No one was caught for the attack on minister Ali abdi Awaare’s son.

Knowledgeable sources in Bosasso didn’t rule out the latest killing being the work of a group that assassinated the town’s mayor early this month.

Meanwhile, attempts to make peace between two religious groups that clashed in Galkayo earlier in the week have failed.

Puntland authorities imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Bosasso Friday. Gunfire shots were being heard throughout the night. A serious deterioration in law and order has been noticeable in the last 2 months, and clashes between armed militia gangs have become common.
