Justice For the Atrocities of the 1980s: The Responsibility of Politicians and Political Parties

The Kulmiye party shows no sense of national responsibility and political decency It is playing a dangerous policy which can be an inclination to resort more to violence rather than try to win the support of the people of Somaliland through persuasion by relying on the merit their party’s principles about how the society should better be managed.

What is Important for the people of Somaliland is not the association or the formation of a political party but it is the purpose for which an association ( party ) is formed , not the mere fact of people combining together , that has the potentiality for evil. The purpose of an association is invariably in the nature of an activity, and like other human activities, it should be subject to control. Political activities are no doubt of greater importance to the life a community than economic or social activities, deserving therefore to be accorded more respect and protection. You have the right for association at the same time you got limits; you cannot throw the nation into anarchy. Using division and hate to come to power is a dangerous game.

Every party must take into account Somaliland’s history and culture, and the character of our people, and its social structure and other relevant factors. In particular the extent to which the people have accepted the object of politics as being to persuade and convince rather than to fight. And I think a healthy association can persuade the majority to support their programme rather than to create insecure political environment and lead the country into chaos.

We want clean politics and responsible politicians.
