Reference is made to Axmed M. I. Egal’s letter "Mudslinging campaign against Rayale’s" published in the Somaliland Times issue 57.

I don't know why we don't understand it's a critical time, so we need to be vigilant about who you are voting for. It’s not a campaign against Rayale, but it's a campaign against suspected war criminals. It’s time for people like M.I. Egal to understand, that it's not political mudslinging to tell the truth. It's a campaign for righteousness, to educate the public, to alert them of any criminal misconduct or participation in any criminal act against humanity. I’ll not agree or accept the idea of "let's forget the past and move on." I won't forget but I’ll move on.

We want the public to know who these guys are (candidates), their background and capability to run the country. Don't try to blackmail democracy or freedom of speech. It’s not a desperate act to speak out and let the public know the truth. But it's a crime when you try to conceal the truth or block it.

The public should do a little research about the candidates. Let's check their resume. If something in one’s background is found questionable then we shouldn’t choose him or her. We paid a huge price last time (1960). Make no mistake this time. I did a research on the background of the candidates. I believe we would be better off with Silanyo. He has a better resume than others.

Finally, we need president Rayale to come out and respond to the public’s anxieties about this issue.
