SOFIA, Nov.12, 2003 (Bulgarian News Network)— Bulgaria's envoy to the United Nations Stefan Tafrov is leading a UN mission to Somalia meant to stop illegal arms supplies to and from the country, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

The mission aims the strict implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1474 about arms embargo imposed on Somalia, the announcement said.

The mission is scheduled to meet the government leaders of Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya and Yemen as well as the general secretaries of the African Union, the African League and the Intergovernmental Association for Development.

The ten-day mission, which is scheduled to end Nov. 21, will also include meetings in Rome with Gustavo Selva, Chairman of the foreign policy committee of the Italian Parliament lower chamber and with Italy's Deputy Foreign Minister Alfredo Mantica, the announcement said.
