“We cannot forget that a defenceless UN worker lost his life in a most cruel way just two months ago,” Mr Milisic said. “We appreciate the efforts made by the investigators in finding the killers, but insist that the rule of law must prevail and that the actual perpetrators of the crime be brought to justice. The UN trusts that the relevant authorities will achieve this in a transparent manner.” Mr Gurage was one of a team of UN field security staff serving in Somalia as part of the UN system responsible for the safety and security of UN humanitarian and developmental staff. He was shot and killed outside his home on the night of Monday 3 October 2005 .
