An Open Letter To Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys!‎


BORAMA, May 9, 2006 – A two-member delegation from Kuwaiti Al Manhal Charity Organization has visited orphanages, hospitals and other centers earlier this week..  

Accompanied by Mohammed Sheikh Ali Ayaanle, MP, the delegation toured the center for war victims, the Kaalmo Orphanage Center, Shifo hospital and some schools.   Eng. Abdirahman Hussein Ahmed, a Somali and member of the delegation, told Awdalnews Network that Al Manhal Charity had inaugurated a 100-bed Eye Specialist Hospital in Hargeysa, adding that the hospital was equipped with an operations theatre and all necessary medical equipment. It construction was executed by the UNIECO national company.

Eng. Faysal Saeed, a Kuwaiti national, has donated 25 cartons of dates and expenses for one day meal to the war victims center after inspecting the center and listening to a briefing from the center's director. The residents of the center, 25 families in total, live in shanty shelters made of tin and plastic sheets. The delegation noted that they would consider of extending some assistance to the center.

Al Manhal Charity delegation later visited Kaalmo Orphanage Center and inspected two classes of a school. Mama Fatima of the center's management told the delegation that the children lacked proper school equipment such as chairs and tables. She said the 125 children in the center also suffered from shortage of food, noting that the ration provided by the WFP was not enough. The center comprises two parts, one for girls and the other for boys. Al Manhal Charity promised that they would cover some of the center's needs.

Later, the delegation made a courtesy call on the mayor of Borama, Abdirahman Sh. Omar Dahir, who thanked them for their visit and their humanitarian activities in Borama. Recipients of Al Manhal's previous assistance in Borama included the privately owned Al Shifa Women Hospital.
