SOMALILAND FORUM PRESS RELEASE

The election of the new Executive Committee of the Somaliland Forum for the year 2006 - 2007 has concluded on 2nd May, 2006. This is the 9th Forum executive committee that is officially elected by the members of the Forum since its inception.

Somaliland Forum elects five members of Executive Committee at this time of every year. As per the forum bylaws, the election was conducted in a manner that is transparent and a democratic in which all outstanding members were able to participate for the nomination, and voting for the new leadership of the forum.

The   Following 5 members have been elected as Somaliland Forum executive committee for the year 2006/2007.  

1- Chairman:     Mohammed Ali Baranbaro -   USA

2-   Vice Chair:   Ahmed Mohamed Jibriil   -   Finland

3-   Secretary:   Hogad Ahmed Farah   –   USA

4-   Treasurer:   Amina Abdi Jama -   Canada

5-    Member at Large:   Nuura Ahmed Waris   -   USA   

On behalf of the general membership, we the electoral commission of this forum   would like to congratulate to these hardworking members selected by their peers for the leadership of the Somaliland forum for the coming year.

We wish them a great success as there are   a lot of work ahead of them; likewise, we like to express our sincere gratitude for the outgoing executive committee for their outstanding achievements they have accomplished during their tenure. They have shown resilience, dedication and passion for their country and people.

Finally, we would like to extend our appreciation to the forum members in general for their patients and support through out this process.
