Seattle, USA, June 3, 2006 (SL Times) – On Sunday, May 21, 2006, about 200 Somalilanders celebrated Somaliland’s restoration of its independence. The event took place at New Holly Gathering Hall. The Program for that evening was as follows:

  • Recitation of verses from the holy Quran
  • Opening remarks by a Somaliland elder, Mr. Mohammed Aw Geelle
  • Speech by Jamal Gabobe (President of Somaliland Society in the Pacific Northwest)
  • Poetry by Abdi Gaas
  • Update by Mowlid Magarre
  • Poetry by Khadar Maalim Qasim
  • Remarks on the benefits of having an organization by Abdirahim Koofiyad Dheere
  • Poetry by Rashid Arraale

It was an evening marked by hope and happiness.
