The Somaliland Policy and Reconstruction Institute (SOPRI) announce the location of the 2006 Somaliland Convention: SOPRI selected the Doubletree Hotel (300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, Virginia, 22202 - Phone: 703-416-4100) to be the venue for the 2006 Conference.

The hotel blocked 100 rooms for the participants attending the convention. The negotiated rate is $99per room per night (please provide the promotion code SLD to the reservation staff to get the special rate) and it is on first come first serve basis. When the 100 blocked rooms are fully booked the hotel will charge the normal rate, if they have any more rooms available. The preferred rates will not be available after August 8, 2006 and we recommend that you make your reservation no later than June 30, 2006. The negotiated parking rate at the hotel is $10 per day. You have a choice of Single or Double beds included in the $99 special rate.

This Convention will build on the successes of the first Convention held in Los Angeles last year. The remarkable political stability achieved in the country, the growing economy, and the possible solutions to the many challenges facing Somaliland will be discussed in depth. The Convention will provide participants an opportunity to find out about "Africa's best-kept secret." A country where self- reliance, can do attitude, liberty and democracy are the norm.
