BOSTON, June 27, 2006 – A teenager who escaped with his family from war-torn Somalia and planned to attend college in the fall was shot and killed by 15-year-old boy, authorities said.
Abdirauf Abdillahi, 19, was chased down and fatally shot Sunday night near his home in Boston's South End neighborhood, police said.
Eloy Sierra, a Randolph High School student with no criminal record, was ordered held without bail Monday after his arraignment on murder and firearms charges. Another 15-year-old was charged as an accessory and ordered held on $200,000 bail.
Police say they have no motive for the killing.
Relatives of Abdillahi said he and his family escaped Somalia and came to Boston in 1996. He was in the Metco program and graduated this month from Concord-Carlisle High School. He was set to attend the University of Charleston in West Virginia and wanted to become a pharmacist.
It was Boston's 35th homicide of year, compared to 27 at the same time last year.
