Fresh Mortar Explosion Wounds Seven in Mogadishu As Government Policeman Killed |

By Aweys Osman Yusuf Addis Ababa , February 2, 2007 - Unknown gunmen have fired a mortar which landed on a school Quran in south of the capital Mogadishu on Friday morning. The general director of Medina hospital, Sheik Salad Doon Elmi, has told Shabelle by the phone in Mogadishu today that seven people, most of them women and their male teacher were admitted to the hospital. He said three of the victims were seriously wounded, adding that one of the female students was pregnant. The teacher's name is Moalim Abdullahi, witnesses said. It is not yet clear which direction the missile has been fired from or who was responsible for this last artillery attack. A Shabelle reporter, who went to the scene where the explosion happened, said at least seven school Qoran students were wounded in the mortar explosion.
