Somaliland President Dahir Rayale Kahin

Hargeysa, Somaliland, March 3, 2007 (SL Times) – Somaliland President Dahir Rayale Kahin is expected to fly to Ghana sometime on Saturday evening.

According to reliable sources, President Rayale and a high level delegation of his government will visit Ghana to attend the country's 50th Independence celebrations on March 6, 2007. The source added that President Rayale was invited by Ghana’s President, John Aygkum Kufour.

The independence of Ghana under the leadership of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah gave a big boost to liberation movements across the continent in their efforts to rid the continent of racism, colonialism and oppression.

In Ghana, President Rayale and his delegation will join a number of African leaders in the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Ghana's independence scheduled to take place in Accra on, Tuesday, 6 March.

The Presidents of South Africa, Botswana, Nigeria, Liberia, Benin, the Chairperson of the AU Commission and the Duke of Kent are expected to attend the celebrations.

Somaliland Times has learned that Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdillahi Mohamed Du'alle, was already in Ghana to pave the way for Rayale's visit to Ghana. Abdillahi Du'alle traveled to Ghana on Thursday.

Somaliland Times tried to confirm this information from the president’s office, but it could not get any extra information.

If President Rayale’s visit to Ghana materializes, it would be taking place just right after he had ordered the government’s takeover of the National Election Commission, an action that has worsened an already brewing crisis.
