Dubai, March 9, 2007 – The family of a mother-of-three left stranded in a Somali prison are still anxiously awaiting news of her safe return. Kamilya Mohammed Toweni, 42, was deported to Somalia after being arrested by anti-terror police on a business trip to Kenya.
UAE passport-holder Kamilya, who arrived in Kenya on January 9 in the hope of investing in the tea industry, was taken for questioning along with three friends. But while the others were released to their home countries of Oman and Kenya - Kamilya, who has lived in the UAE since 1979 - was sent to Somalia in a bizarre mix-up.
Her brother said: “We still have heard nothing. We are so worried for her.”
