By: Abukar Sanei The real assessment that cannot be invalidated is that the situation of Somalia has been deteriorating since the Ethiopian invasion in December last year. The main argument that the Tigrey leader used for this intrusion in Somalia was to "help" his puppets, called TFG, and get rid of the ICU, whom he considered as a "threat" to his national security. However, he eventually sought an approval from his MPs in Addis Ababa to wage his war against, not only the ICU, but the entire population of Mogadishu. Even though it's estimated that four hundred civilians have recently been slaughtered in the bitter war between insurgents against the occupation and forces from the invaders in Mogadishu, the "leaders" of the so-called TFG claim now that they succeeded in their "war on terror", and the city of Mogadishu is under their control. However, this misleading war, which is used to legitimize the illegal invasion of Somalia, and supported by the agents of Addis Ababa, will never be won! For the last sixteen years, many conferences were held for Somalis. In these trouble years, the authoritarian regime of Addis Ababa was participating the ongoing problems of Somalia by providing different kinds of weapons to the warlords. At the end of last year, the UN monitoring group reported and put Ethiopia as one of the countries that violated the UN arms embargo on Somalia. However, this was Mr. Zenawi's way of using the old strategy that all imperial regimes had used before him. It was the strategy called "divide and rule." The proof of this claim is that in 2000, a Democratically elected government was founded in Djibouti, but the Ethiopian regime was not eager to offer any help for this government. The reason was that there were not usable agents in it, and it's not the interest of Zenawi and his government to see Somalia to stand by itself again. Another factor was the lack of support, and political disconnection from the international community. For these reasons, it's failed to expand its rule on Somalia. However, in the late 2004, Ethiopian regime brought to Somalia a warlords based government, which it [ Ethiopia] succeeded to put two of its agents on the top of it. This conference, which was held in Kenya was the last chance for the Ethiopian ruler, and even though there were more agents for him, two of them were installed in this so-called TFG. One of these two agents has described himself as, "ma quuste", which can be interpreted " I have never relinquished from my desire to reach the position of presidency in Somalia. In this speech that he called himself "ma quuste", he has really expressed how he was edacious for power. However, the Abyssinian leader was able to put "ma quuste" on the top of the TFG and called him as its president. Furthermore, in order to complete the second position of this so-called government, there must be found another person, who can be the same or better than Mr. Yusuf to serve for the Ethiopian interests in Somalia. However, a man, who was unknown to many Somalis, but a very good agent to Ethiopia was recommended to become the second man of "ma quuste." Thanks to Sophia Tesfamariam! A masterpiece article written by this talented woman has uncovered the ties between Zenawi and Gedi to those who are interested in the current issues of Somalia. The title of her article was "Ali Mohamed Ghedi-Meles Zenawi's stooge and Somalia's Traitor." According to this article, the relationship between Gedi and his "godfather" was planted by Gedi's father in the mid 1990s. For instance, when the "stooge" was in a high position of the Red Sea Livestock Commission, he has played a key role to recommend Ethiopian livestock instead of Somali's livestock business in the Gulf countries by a claim that the disease of Rift Valley has been "found" from Somali's livestock, according to Ms. Tesfamariam. However, even though the "stooge" was not a member of the TFG's Parliament, the mastermind of the TFG succeeded to convince another agent to give up for his seat and made the "stooge" the PM of "Somalia." Based on Zenawi's ties and relationship with these two puppets of the TFG, someone can conclude that the Ethiopian war on Somalia can not be called a "war on terror," and the main objective of this war is a political domination on Somalia. If Zenawi's war was a war on terror, why we don't hear any bullet from the Ugandan troops? If this war was really valid, they would have been part of it. For instance, the last ten days war in Mogadishu was described as the worst war in Somalia after 1991, and the fact is that the hopeless people of Mogadishu have nothing to do with terrorism. But what Ethiopian troops are doing now is destruction and killing of Mogadishu civilians. In addition, in a press conference that the Ethiopian ruler has recently held in Addis Ababa, he plainly said that he is at war with a specific clan based in Mogadishu. This is another proof that shows how this war is not a war on terror. Therefore, the question that can be raised here is that how can a whole clan be terrorists? Are the children of this clan terrorists? Are the elders of this clan terrorists? Are breast-feeding mothers, and infants of this clan terrorists? In fact, they are not, but it's the irrational statement that the taskmaster of this war is trying to convince us. Of course, there were some men from this clan, who were in the front-line of this war fighting to liberate their country from the aggressors, but they were not alone for this war. For instance, even though, the mastermind of this war has undermined the Human Rights Organizations' report of what is going on in Mogadishu, there must be accountability for the war crimes committed against Mogadishu civilians. It's time to stop misleading the international community by justifying the illegal occupation of Somalia, and killing civilians, who are still suffering from their grievances and wounds of the last sixteen years. Ethiopia's war on Somalia is a war on interests and domination of the Horn of Africa, and it will not bring any solution to Somalia. The only solution for a peaceful Somalia is to let patriot Somalis govern Somalia. Any foreign hampering on Somali issues, whether it's coming from the totalitarian regime of Addis Ababa or somewhere else, will not contribute a productive solution to Somalia. Sooner of later, this occupation will come to end, but Mogadishu people should take it as a practical lesson. Ma quuste and the "stooge" will keep their claim that they are "leaders" of Somalia, but it will be hard for them to gain the hearts and minds of those they have destroyed by helping their mentor in Addis Ababa use his misleading so-called "war on terror" in Somalia.
