A Letter That Smote Dr. Siffer’s Conscious

By Ismail Ahmed, Dire Dawa, Ethiopia

Perhaps and most possibly, very few men had suffered so harshly at the hands of the newly minted Majeerteenian morons than Dr. Mohamed Jama, better known as Dr. Siffer. The Majeeretenian petty slobs, have been personally hand picked by Col. Abdillahi Yusuf himself, soon after he was elected as Somalia’s interim president in a scandalous conference held in the Kenyan city of Embagathi in 2004.

Dr. Siffer, who, before seeing behind his nose was driven by a non-existing imaginary Somali Republic, has become the victim of his elusive empty euphoria. Whenever he voiced his serious concerns about the looming humanitarian crisis that was in the offing as Col. Abdillahi was engaged in campaign of vengeances against the Hawiye and other non-Darood clans, Ali Geedi’ s chucker, chucked him out in a quite humiliating fashion. But a wise man learns from his own mistakes. He saw that Baidoa has become a big prison for Col. Abdillahi Yusuf’s opponent law makers whose movements are being closely controlled jointly by Ethiopian forces and Puntland’s rag-tag militias. Indeed Baidoa has become Somalia’s Gulag, the Soviet system of forced labor camps in Siberia where the former Russian communist government tortured members of the pro-democracy movements. Dr. Siffer soon took to his heels before it was too late to be Col. Abdillahi Yusuf’s stool pigeon. I contacted him late last year by sending to him the following letter that smote his conscious: -

“Reading between lines your crabby and elusive press release which appeared last week on Hiiraan website has taken me aback, as I could not believe my eyes for the time being, as a person who was closely monitoring your past and present behaviors which left you on several occasions naked at the centre stages.

In your press release, you described yourself as a minister in charge of Somalis in the Diaspora who is currently engaged in an alternative dialogue other than that of ill-fated Khartoum peace talks between the Union of Islamist Court (UIC) and the weak Ethiopian backed Col. Abdillahi Yusuf’s Transitional National Government (TNG) holed up in the town of Baidoa...

How many times you have to be hushed down by the illiterate Somalia’s unelected warlords, after they caught you red-handedly engaged in assignments which they regarded “none of your business”, as a guest who was thrown out by his own people. Although your present portfolio, in essence, does not exist in any governmental structure anywhere in the whole world, but one should not underestimate that it costed you blood. How many more times you have to be beaten up by some of the Col. Abdullah Yusuf’s hard-die protégés who frequently accused you of meddling in their own affairs -crossing the red lines. It is an open secret that you have been severely beaten up by Abdulkadir Juriile of Punt land in front of other Somalia’s warlords in 2004 at the Embagathi conference hall, which left you for a while unconscious, according to a Kenyan nurse who tended your wounds at Nairobi Hospital. The last time you have been beaten up was early this year in Baidoa, when you quarreled with one of Abgaals over the issue of vote of confidence, which again left you crying hysterically with no one around to console you. They let you lick your own wounds in a country where you become “unwanted guest” What a hustle and a bustle to see the son of great Sheik being humiliated and belittled by Somalia’s warlords, who otherwise would have been his loyal students.

“ Siffir has forgotten that he was simply our guest” sarcastically said, an Abgaal who headbutted you the other day in Baidoa.

Indeed, you forget that you are an uninvited guest in a country where you have no constituency. The poorer the guest, the better he entertains himself. Instead of taking everything given to you from the horse’s mouth, you started giving instructions to your hosts. You are being treated as an unpaid troubadour singing to the tune of Col. Abdillahi Yusuf, General Morgan’s cousin, who is now wearing a religious mantel in Mogadishu enjoying to the full, while his erstwhile subordinate officer, Col. Hassan Turki is glaring his fangs against Somaliland. It is beyond doubt that you are trudging in despair wearing sackcloth and ready to roll in ashes. That you are deeply dispirited and need an immediate rehabilitation is no-brainer. Once, one of Somaliland’s brilliant intellectuals who walked tall among his people has turned out to be a crack-brained comedian for Col. Abdillahi Yusuf’s entourages. Looking carefully your picture that you attached to your press release also tells tales. It is a symbol of deceit, uncertainty, exaggeration, apprehension and hopelessness to the core. Your picture also shows that your are lying in your teeth. The moment one begins to lie, the body sends out contradictory signals. One valuable way to discover whether or not someone is open and honest is to look straight into his eyes.

As time and tide waits for no man, at this time and age, it is a high time that you come back home by asking for forgiveness from your own people. Instead of kowtowing to warlords who have blood on their hands, be bold enough to face the reality on the ground.

To be rehabilitated as someone who erred , it is time that you ask forgiveness before Col. Turk’s rusty sword cuts you down.. Exorcise your demons with a single act of contrition and humility.

But if you do not accept our sincere advice in order to free yourself from your present self-imposed exile in Baidoa, the time will not be far, when you will find yourself sitting beside an old Majeerteenian witch stirring a bubbling caldron.

Now, write your epitaph. Either you will be a repented “Saffir”(ambassador), or “Siffir”(0) with multiple digital zeroes. The choice is yours.”

But one man who took the minister of foreign affair’s portfolio as a guarantee that he would hold it so long he danced to the tune of the newly minted Majeerteian petty goons, is Ismail Hurre .His cherubic confidence in Abdillahi Yusuf that he would be treated as a bulwark and unflinching stalwart against the Somaliland‘s increasing influence in the region as an oasis of democracy, has turned him, instead as a stool pigeon. Buba has tried his outmost efforts to please Col. Yusuf Abdillahi and his “blaring mules”. During the recent genocide campaign in Mogadishu, he heaped lie on lie by denying the nearly half million displaced Hawiyes who ran for their lives when they could no longer bear the indiscriminate aerial and artillery bombardments of Ethiopia occupation forces that rained on them.

But alas! The man who was over the moon enjoying to the full as Col. Abdillahi Yusuf’s foreign minister has been sacked in a quite humiliating fashion without prior notice, because he simply overstepped his nominal authority by refusing to take orders from newly appointed ambassador to Kenya. Finally, he got the message. In other words, Buba hit the deck. He became one of those described in the Koran as being “neither here nor there.” Tongue-tied and ashamed Buba, has simply disappeared in a cloud of thought to lick his own wounds with occasional hysteric whimpering as he could no longer regain back his lost pride and dignity. He became a victim of himself. He shot himself in the foot.

There is another Somaliland’s traitor whose fate will be decided soon by Col. Abdillahi Yusuf. Another Somalilander’s traitor, who is now standing at the end of a long queue soon to be Abdillahi Yusuf’s latest bête noire is Hussein Elabe Faahiye. Elabe found himself in Abdillahi Yusuf’s maw apparently against his will but only to stay away from former Soviet style Baidoa’ political prison. Elabe, who is suffering from a mysterious chronic disease that severely hampered his voice, was drawn into the fray with aim of safeguarding his life savings invested in properties, which he shares with his in-laws. Elabe who is now in his late 70s should have spent the rest of his life in the mosques as Awdalite elders rightly do, instead of appeasing the Majeerteens, who are now engaged in a genocide campaign against the Hawiyes under the umbrella of Males Zenawi’s TPFL occupation forces. Elabe has replaced Buba as the new Abdillahi Yusuf’s foreign minister.

As whereabouts of the remaining few Somaliland traitors, simply they either vanished away, or they are in Baidhaba’s Gulag, where they were even refused to breath fresh air.

Finally, for those Somaliland traitors who have not yet seen the light, the message is simple: -those who spit in the sky, only make dirty their faces. In the meantime, Somaliland Republic will remain Africa’s success story. So be it!
