Addis Ababa, 25 May 2007 - Addis Ababa - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi yesterday held talks with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur.

The talks held between Prime Minister Meles and Speaker Mohamed Nur centred on current situations in Somalia.

After his talks with Meles, the TFG Parliament Speaker told journalists that discussions focused particularly on the Somali national reconciliation conference, expected to be held soon.

He said Ethiopia has provided immense support for the TFG at a time when extremist and terrorist forces posed danger to the existence of the legitimate government.

He said he discussed with the prime minister also the issue of existing cooperation between Ethiopia and the TFG.

Later in the day, the Speaker, who is leading the TFG delegation on a week-long visit to Ethiopia, gave a press briefing at the Ghion Hotel.

He said there has now been “a new page” in the relations between Ethiopia and Somalia.

“We urge the Eritrean government to refrain from interfering in the domestic issues of Somalia,” he said.

The TFG is pursuing the legal path of bringing suspects of crimes to the court of law, he said.

“The reconciliation process in Somalia is on the right track,” he added.
