In Kuwait, during the 16th Somaliland National Day Celebrations, the enemies of Somaliland in this tiny oil-rich Gulf country wrongly utilized the Arab Policy on Somaliland independence who blindly supports the unity of Somalia without understanding the ‘true colors’ of Somali politics. In the Arab World, Somalilanders are considered as ‘dividers' while the Arab leaders and governments vehemently oppose granting independence to Somaliland in a bid to protect their political and economic interests in the Horn of Africa including safeguarding the Gulf of Aden, which is crucial for oil exports to the West. The brave Somalilanders in Kuwait, prepared for their annual Independence Day celebrations, which was marred with an order from Kuwaiti securitymen to put down the Somaliland National Flag and removal of symbols depicting the nationhood of Somaliland on stage. The valiant Somaliland citizens then used the flag as a dress with some women donning the flag as a Hijab (an Islamic dress), acts that barred the securitymen from removing the flag in the event. The National Anthem and other patriotic songs were played and the festival concluded as planned except disturbance from created by the enemies of Somaliland. The three-day visit of ailing Somalia Transitional Government warlord Abdullah-yey to Kuwait recently ignited such barbaric anti-Somaliland activities resulting in the deployment of a police force including secret intelligence agents in the venue, who questioned organizers and immediately ordered the removal of flags and signs of Somaliland independence from the stage. Somaliland Community invited local Kuwaiti press, where ceremony photos were published next day morning. This triggered anger between Somaliland foes in Kuwait, who could not disable commitment of Somalilanders in Kuwait.
