Somalia’s interior minister Mohamed Mohamud Guled

Mogadishu, August 9, 2007 - Somalia’s interior minister Mohamed Mohamud Guled known as ‘Gama-dhere’ on Thursday blamed the security forces for the current escalation of violence saying the insufficient training by the soldiers has caused the length of the crisis.

In interview with the London based Arabic Sharqal Awsar newspaper, Mr. Mohamed said the government lacks well equipped and trained security army and that let the violent acts to persist longer.

“We are aware of that there is technical problems for the security forces to manage the operations, so what the government needs is to get the security needs covered,” said Gama-dhere.

The interior minister said the government is currently involving in efforts to put more quality on its security forces to restore law and order.

“The Somali public now understands the risk from the militants and need help from the government’s side,” said Gama-dhere adding that the society should work with the joint forces to find the suspects.
