Mogadishu, 31 August 2007 - Somali transitional federal government and representatives from Chinese government have signed a number of agreements based on mainly the infrastructure of Somalia as Chinese ambassador to Kenya has arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday.
On the Somali side, president abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed has signed the agreement while Du Qiwen, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, has also signed the agreement on behalf of his government.
According to the government spokesman, Abdi Haji Gobdon the Chinese representatives have monitored several locations in Mogadishu before the signature took place including the former match factory, Mogadishu stadium and many other locations where the Chinese Govt. constructed before .
In meeting with President Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed at the presidential palace the Chinese envoys have given one million US dollar to the government as to make rehabilitation the presidential palace.
The government spokesman Mr. Gobdan, the Chinese envoys have also granted 500$ to the representative of world health organization for Somalia.
Agreement also includes 300$ to tackle the endemic malaria in Somalia.
Asked when these contracts to be implemented, the spokesman said as soon as the Chinese envoys return to Nairobi, Kenya, they would be implemented.
Chinese government has been engaging in contracts about economic investments and with number of countries in Africa.
