Mogadishu, September 07, 2007 – Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Ghedi said the conference being in Asmara, Eritrea, by opportunists has no popular support as the Somali people are happy with the outcome of the recent National Reconciliation Conference.
Prime Minister Ghedi told WIC yesterday that ''opportunists exist everywhere, but the people of Somalia, the Transitional Government, regional countries and the international community are happy with the outcome of the National Reconciliation Conference held in Mogadishu.''
Unlike what the opportunists and their supporters say, the National Reconciliation Conference was successful and the outcome of the conference has been disseminated down to village level, he added.
The prime minister seized the opportunity to congratulate the leaders of African states on the occasion of the African Millennium which will be celebrated in Addis Ababa, the seat of African Union.
He further reiterated that the new millennium will be an era in which the historic relations of Ethiopia and Somalia would grow and the bond between the two peoples will be strengthened.
