By Ahmed Geedismaris

This is an answer to an article written by Dr. Hassan Eiman Egal, campaigning for Dr. Ahmed Hussein Isse in his bid to Kulmiye leadership. Yes Dr. as you said Kulmiye is the future. Kulmiye is the hope of the very existance of Somaliland. It is overcrowded with old supporters and unprecedented waves of new comers. That touched the balance of its leadership. When most of honest selfless leaders welcome the new blood, few selfish members see this as a threat.

Democracy is in pure terms nothing more than the decision taken by majority. Dr. you and your lavishly said candidate another Doctor, are against that rule. To you democracy is nothing but what you want. It is the democracy that defined by the sort of American administration. The democracy that denies the majority vote in Palestine and in Algeria.

Let me remind you there are three parties in our country. The other two are nothing more than one man show. Faisal single-handedly distributed party delegates, he single-handed fired and appointed his deputies, no question asked. As to Riyale he postponed two years UDUB constitutionally prescribed congress, no eye-barrow raised. On the other hand, Kulmiye discussed in its Executive Committee and appointed an independent Preparatory Committee. That committee comprises of all regions, with all possible factions within the party. That committee debated and searched all options. They reached a formula so democratic and fair, no party in your adopted countries USA and Europe had. They said unequivocally, congress members will come, according to the votes casted in the parliamentary election. Adjusted with extra numbers for Women, Youth, Minorities and districts and regions that show an extra support recently ie Awdal Salaxlay and Oodweyne.

The old guard of Hargeysa West and Buroa East see this distribution fair and to the benefit of the party. You cannot deny the chance of electing party leadership to new members, and yet ask their vote. Anyone who is against welcoming new arrivals is against the success of the party and puts his personal narrow interest before the overall success of the party, determinant to desire of the mass supporters and public at large.

Let me come to a burning points. Doctor you and your candidate Dr. Ahmed Hussien Isse, are opportunists, if you are party member at all. There are many UDUB members that like to involve in leadership election of Kulmiye, as their party will never give them that chance. Dr. Ahmed is Executive Member, you can call him the second man of the party in terms of authority and status. If there were problems and necessary improvements, why he didn’t mend it and sorted out during all these years. Either what you saying is empty propaganda, or worse you are a traitors within. For you gave wrong advices and direction in order to say at opportune time, look it is of Silaanyo. Look this and that. That kind of people never succeeds. The defects whatsoever in the party is squarely of Dr. Ahmed Xuseen as it is of Silaanyo and the rest of Kulmiye Executive.

For we all know Kulmiye is not government, Silaanyo have neither the fund nor the military power and government machinery to act against the will of the Committee Management of the party.

Another point, how can a person that has a political agenda for the success of an opposition party, demand change of its leadership just two months from its election? Why those who see castles in the sky, didn’t challenge leadership at an early time. Who knows Dr. Isse beyond the district of Hargeysa? Ask yourself and anyone in the party including supporters of the Dr. who can bring more votes to the party? I have yet to receive anyone that even blinks to say, of course Silaanyo is the only viable candidate that can satisfy all six regions and who can lead Kulmiye and Somaliland to success.

I am from Awdal region, and I joined this party in principle. I was in Hargeysa during presidential election, campaigned and wrongly voted for Rayale. Last year I went home, and what I saw convinced me to shift to Kulmiye. I am more than happy to see waves of people joining Kulmiye, to that of you who sacrifice party and national interest for political seats, think again. You can succeed only when Kulmiye gains power. We have the future of the whole nation at risk. The leadership of Kulmiye must cooperate and stop fighting a battle where they will all loose and the nation will, go under and may collapse completely.

Finally, did you read the conditions necessary for a candidate to the presidency to satisfy? Clearly Dr. Ahmed Hussien Isse and others are running illegally. They have a clear handicap and hurdle to remove upfront. Dr. Isse is an American citizen and he is married to a Christian wife. He has to get rid off both, before he puts his name in Kulmiye candidacy. It is self-defeating to engage a war within Kulmiye when there is no reason to do so. If Dr. Isse have no other agenda, let he read our constitution and act upon it. Who can trust his seriousness of his candidacy when he cannot satisfy the first condition of his candidacy, see Article 82 Para.1. Isn’t that another proof of fooling the public, as he did when he talks about defects and problems of the party and stamping all problems on Silaanyo alone, when he was right-hand man for all this years. Whatever problem Kulmiye has you have lion’s share Doctor.

Warning to both of you doctors and other so called elites. Do not make the same mistake that reduced NUF to non-party in 1960 election. Come down to your people. Base your decisions with their passion and feelings. Eradicate your prejudice that you gained unconsciously from the west. Your constituency is 80% illiterate, unemployed and have no attachment to government. Your whole civil servants, the police force, judiciary and the army take order from the president. In that environment you need a lot of adjustments, and you need selfless struggle to aim at educating and improving quality of their lives, before you see castles in the sky. Respect their culture, religion and way they do their politics. After all they are the masters of your own destiny if you aim for political leadership.

Victory is with Kulmiye as my dear friend Mr. Ahmed Arwo said, if it doesn’t throw away. Do not be part of those who fight for a seat even at the destruction of the party and the country.

Finally, my apology of poor quality of writing, I am not a doctor, and not graduated from English universities. I prefer to write in Somali, but I have to as it will be unfair to reply to a letter written in English, to another language.
