Hargeysa, November 3, 2007 (SL Times) – A ceremony to mark the 14th anniversary of the formation of the Somaliland Police Force was held on Thursday at the central police headquarters in Hargeysa, Somaliland.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including the Vice-President of Somaliland, Ahmed Yusuf Yasin, the Speaker and deputy Speaker of the Somaliland parliament, several senior Somaliland ministers, senior Somaliland police officers, the Ethiopian representative in Somaliland, members of the UNDP office in Somaliland and members of the general public.

Speaking at the ceremony to mark the 14th anniversary of the Somaliland Police Force, Vice-President Yasin paid tribute to the men and women of the police force and their families.

Yasin stated that "without law and order there is no peace, and the Somaliland Police Force are an integral part of the peaceful development of the country". The Vice-President also outlined the continuing support of the people and the government

On his part, the acting Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, deputy commander Mohamed Shiil Dhidar also took the opportunity to send his greetings to the men and women of the force throughout Somaliland.

As part of the ceremony, the Somaliland Police Force displayed an exhibition of the police cases in the country over the last fiscal year. The participants at the ceremony were also treated to musical entertainment from the Police Force band.
