Somaliland and the press law

By Jama Farah

Ali Gulaid demonstrated a rare leadership by withdrawing his nomination for the vise presidency of Kulmiye. He chose to put, the interest of the party and country ahead of his own ambitions. As man of principal, he refused to fall in line with the usual tribal lines and petty politics. He chose to step aside if he could not be judged on his knowledge and merits.

Ali Gulaid is a tested and tried leader. As one of the first members of the Kulmiye party, He managed to attract Somaliland professionals, elites and academies in the Diaspora. With numerous accolades he commands respect both on the local and the international scene. Time after time, he chose to serve the people rather than himself. As a development banker he held African institutions and leaders accountable. The same standards that he holds Somaliland to.

Ali Gulaid’s expertise helped Kulmiye surpass the two other parties, as the only party with the best and viable economical development plan. He has a passion and drive to make Somaliland a competitor in the horn of Africa.

As a citizen with the stroke of his pen he managed to convey the disparity, and corruption that exist in our country. Ali Gulaid is man of principle who does not compromise on democratic values. He is a constant advocate for transparence, free press and independent judiciary in Somaliland.

Ali Gulaid has transcended the political environment in our country today, where leaders are switching party loyalties, and exploiting their tribesmen for personal gains. Ali Gulaid the well-meaning man put the welfare of the party and interest of the country first.

As his loyal supporters, we could not be happier and we are even stronger supporters of Kulmiye today.
