President Dahir Rayale Kahin

Hargeysa, Somaliland, December 1, 2007 (SL Times) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Dahir Rayale Kahin, met Tuesday with officers from the World Bank, the United Nations, The European Union and diplomats from the French and Italian embassies in Nairobi Kenya. The meeting held at the Presidency was an opportunity for the visiting delegation to meet with senior members of the Somaliland government.  

The delegation from the International organizations and donor nations are currently in Somaliland for a three day meeting to discuss the next stage of Somaliland's JNA reconstruction and development programme for the 2008 fiscal year.

In his opening remarks, President Rayale thanked the members present, their parent organization, as well as the donor nations. Rayale emphasized the importance of co-operation between Somaliland and the international community, and pledged that Somaliland will continue on its path in democracy and good governance.

On their part, the members of the delegation, including Mr. Eric Laroche from the United Nations, Dr. Chris Lovelace from the World Bank and Mr. Richard Hands from the European Union, thanked the people and the government of Somaliland for its warm welcome, and reiterated their commitment in assisting Somaliland with its developmental needs. Also attending the meeting were the Somaliland ministers from Planning and Foreign Affairs, Ali Ibrahim Mohamed and Abdillahi Mohamed Duale.
