Hargeisa, 15 January 2008 - The republic of Somaliland breakaway called for its nation to hold crowd public demonstration wants to prop up Somaliland to develop into independent state from the other parts of Somalia.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of Somaliland presidential palace Sa'id Addani Moge said that the rally's need follows a meeting between Somaliland cabinet of Monday which they agreed to stage mass protest backing Somaliland's self-governing in all the areas of Somaliland.

The main rally will take place at liberty forum in Hargeysa city the capital of Somaliland.

The rally is projected to hold up the trip of Somaliland's president Dahir Rayale Kahin in the United States furthermore there is similar rally will be held in the United States by Somaliland community in the US.

Mr. Rayale and his delegation are in Washington to attend a solidarity rally and conference on the topic of Somaliland. Diaspora Somalis who consider themselves Somalilanders across North America are due in the DC/MD/VA metropolitan area for the conference, which is scheduled to begin

After the death of Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal early in May 2002, the then Vice-President Mr. Dahir Rayale Kahin was sworn in as President.

Presidential elections were held in May 2003, Rayale narrowly inched past his opponent Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Sillanyo. The disputed final count which placed Rayale as winner by a margin of 80 votes.
