Minister for Rural Development, Fuad Adan Adde

Hargeysa, Somaliland, April 5, 2008 (SL Times) – Somaliland president Dahir Riyale sacked his minister for Rural Development on Thursday. Fuad Adan Adde lost his job after he criticized president Riyale for mismanaging funds raised by the public in support of people in Sool region.

In an interview published by Haatuf on Thursday Fuad A. Adde said although Somalilanders were generously donating funds for Sool’s relief and rehabilation, however little if any has been reaching Sool, his home region. He also said that nothing has changed in Las-Anod since the region’s capital was re-captured by Somaliland from Puntland militia on October 2007.

.“We have only replaced troops with other troops and that doesn’t make any good” Fuad A. Adde said.On Thursday afternoon Fuad A. Adde was sacked by a president who never forgives any one who criticizes him for practicing corruption.

In 1997 the former president Egal sent his Vice President Riyale to Buroa to direct relief operations there.

Dahir Riyale came back to Hargeysa after staying in Buroa for several weeks. Later he built himself a villa in Borama, his hometown. Until today the house is known as “Buroa Calamity – Aafadii Burco”.
