Las-Anod, Somaliland, March 21, 2009 (SL Times) – Reports reaching us from Las Anod indicate that the man in charge of Puntland administration in Taleeh, Mr Mahamud Jama Sha’ur (Ilwayn),  has cut ties with the Puntland administration and is now in Las Anod. Upon his arrival in Las Anod, Mr Mahamud Shaur was given a cordial welcome by Las Anod’s  officials and Sool region’s  police commander, Mr Muhammad Suleiman Gooni. Mahamud Jama Sha’ur  (Ilwayn) did not give a lot of details on why he defected from Puntland to Somaliland, but he did say that he now sees Somaliland as a legitimate functioning government whereas the Puntland administration is unfair and biased.
