Hargeysa, Somaliland, April 4, 2009 (SL
Times) – In a press conference at his office this week, Somaliland’s
Minister of Health, Mr. Abdi Haybe Muhammad warned the public against
some people who are using religion as propaganda against vaccination.
Furthermore, answering a question about the effect that the rains will
have on Hargeysa, the Minister said, “during the rainy season, usually
there is a cholera outbreak, and for that reason I was with the Mayor of
Hargeysa, Eng. Hussein Mahmud Jiir, and we discussed the steps we are
going to take to prevent a cholera outbreak.”
The Minister also discussed efforts by his department to improve the
delivery of health care throughout the country.
