Buhoodle, Somaliland, May 30,
2009 (SL Times) – Buhoodle celebrated for the first time Somaliland
Independence Day on May 18. The event was jointly organized by officers
of Somaliland armed forces in Buhoodle and a civil society organization
called Darwish.
Among the organizations that played a visible part in the celebration
was the soccer group Togsol.
During the celebration, Somaliland's armed forces officers Muhammad
Sheikh Abdi Dabcasar, Col. Ismail Hashi, and Abdifatah Kisdid were
saluted by contingents from Somaliland's army.
Although the event drew a modest crowd, it showed that the people of
Buhoodle are not opposed to Somaliland, but rather that Somaliland needs
to do more to extend its writ throughout the region.
