Politics - a word detested by most of the common people. To an ordinary person, politics is a synonym to corruption, misuse of power, money laundering and other take away. Politics has earned such a bad name for itself everywhere that even the most honest political leader is looked upon with suspicion. Elections come and go.
Majority of the populace does not bother to vote. They know, once elected a candidate forgets his electorate and runs after money and power. But these elected leaders can play havoc or bring peace and prosperity in the society. It depends on both their decisions and participation of people. It is true that political decisions and activities affect all aspects of people's lives. But is it really unfortunate?
Right from start of elections, candidates go on talking glibly about their plans to work for the benefit of all. They give speeches, hold rallies, fund raisers and waste precious money and time- just for power. It's after they are elected, their ambiguous talk is exposed. Elected representatives often get portfolios for which they are totally unqualified. Imagine an illiterate politician becoming a minister for education, minister of agriculture so on. Hard to believe but is commonplace in many backward countries. Such a man will be totally incompetent for office and may end up spoiling the education system. The common man won't be able to do a thing except watching promising careers and dreams fade away into oblivion.
In most cases common people get most affected while not even being fully aware of the reasons. That’s the whole irony of it. Most decisions and policies get formed without the peoples say. They are helpless watchers of the whole game.
Complete communication is akin to "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." It means leaving nothing out - but it doesn't mean using the truth as a blunt instrument to make others feel or look bad. It means providing the context when we ask for something, so that others can understand the why behind our request, and see how their response fits into a bigger picture our government. And it means saying the important things to our people and family instead of assuming that they know how we feel.
Just like any tool, political ability can be turned to good uses or bad. We can use a hammer to smash a priceless piece of art, or we can use it to tap a finishing nail into a beautiful piece of Gold. In either case, it's not the hammer that caused the end result; it's what we’ve done with the hammer. That is same what our president do to the power.
History of democracy tells us that it is name of slow and steady change and continuous struggle. You can't build Rome in one day. You have to wait and collateral efforts are required like a switch in time. Struggle initiated by one generation carried on by next one and then next process going on till after several decades the fruitful results start revealing. But as a nation we show signs of urgency, wants to have results even waiting long enough to allow time to get ripen.
As all we know, the life of premature change is very thin. Secondly, the process of our real democracy needs continuity to search the right system and right government. Any disruption and breakdown, results not only in sudden halt of the process but also put car in reverse gear. Same vicious cycle repeated again and again in any good country so many times that it is now become the stable and well developed country.
Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, choose the path that leads to wisdom
