Hargeysa, Somaliland, June 20, 2009 (SL Times) – The National Examination Office of Somaliland’s ministry of education has announced that school examination for the 2008/09 academic year will start today (June 20) throughout the country. The announcement came in the form of a circular signed by the Chairman of The National Examination Office, Mr. Daud Ahmad Farah. The examination office has scheduled that intermediate students (8th grade) and high school seniors (level 4) will begin the examinations on Saturday, June 20th. The examinations will go on for 5 days and 3166 students from 37 secondary schools and 8128 students from 132 Intermediate Schools around the country will sit this year’s examination.
The examination will be different this year from previous one because of changes in the curriculum, whereby new subjects such as agriculture and business were added. Furthermore, students were divided into those majoring in arts and those majoring in science. Students majoring in arts will not be examined in science and those majoring in sciences will not be examined in the arts.
