Hargeysa, Somaliland, June 20, 2009 (SL Times) – Kulmiye party’s 1st Deputy Chairman, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi warned Somaliland’s clerics against engaging in religious disputes among themselves. He cited the example of southern Somalia which he said is suffering from chaos and war because of religious disputes. He also exhorted Somaliland’s religious leaders to take part in promoting peace in Somaliland.
Muse Bihi made this statement at an event in Hargeysa in which Telesom showcased the latest expansion and improvements in its mobile telephone services.
Sheikh Muhammad Ali Gadhle who also spoke at the event said that Somaliland’s religious leaders value the peace and security in Somaliland and will play their part in preserving it.
