Dear Editor,

International media reports about four Somali men facing double amputations under Sharia law for stealing phones shows how inconsistent and hypocritical these religious Pharisees who implement Sharia law really are.

Of course, there must be punishments for crime but, when they aren't stoning to death 13-year-old mentally disabled girls as happened in Somalia recently, these religious fascists are punishing people for their entire lives by mutilating and crippling them.

The one consolation for those suffering such abuse is that those who use religion to terrorize and oppress will, in the not too distant future, find their own consciences convicting them on God's Judgment Day because they did to others what they would not wish done to themselves - God's judgment, in effect, being that people's own consciences will become their "judge, jury and executioner".

Sincerely,
S. Barrowclough
