Somaliland: A Democracy in the Horn of Africa.

Hargeysa, Somaliland, July 18, 2009 (SL Times) – Basketball competition between 6 top level teams started at Tima Adde grounds. The competition was sponsored by Telesom and was given the name Zaad service. Speaking on the occasion of the games, Telesom’s community relations officer, Ali Muhammad Salah (Cajab), said, “Telesom is always ready to help Somaliland sports to make progress.”
The Chairman of hand ball sports, Mr Said Yaaqshiid also thanked Telesom for its continuous assistance in promoting and developing sports in Somaliland.
The Director of Games, Mr Sad also spoke and reminded the youth to maintain the standards of sports ethics.
The first match was between Gaashaan and Nation link. Gaashan won by scoring 50 points against Nation link’s 40 points.
It is important to note that some of the structures of Tima Cadde sports field where the games are taking place have collapsed several months ago and need substantial repairs.
