Somaliland: A Democracy in the Horn of Africa.

Hargeysa, Somaliland, July 18, 2009 (SL Times) – Somaliland’s three political parties (UDUB, KULMIYE, UCID), and the electoral commission signed an agreement in July 11, 2009 on a code of conduct for the presidential election that is scheduled for September 27, 2009.
The signing ceremony took place at Mansoor hotel and the event was attended by representatives from the three parties, members of parliament and other distinguished guests.
The Vice Chairman of the Electoral Commission gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of the agreement and the great efforts made by the Electoral Commission so that it would bring about the agreement between the three parties.
The General Secretary of KULMIYE, Mr Kayse Hasan Ige, the Vice Chair of UCID, Mr Adan Muhammad Mire (Waqaf), and the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mr Jama Mahmud Omar (Sweden) also spoke at the event.
