Somaliland, August 1, 2009 (SL Times) – Hargeysa’s regional court
sentenced five terrorists to death in absentia. The five terrorists are
Ahmed Abdi Hussein, Abdifatah Abdillahi Guleed, Ahmed-nur Muhammad
Mahmud, Osman Yusuf Odowa and Abdillahi Yusuf. They were sentenced for
involvement in the three coordinated suicide bombings in Hargeysa. Two
other terrorists, Jama Yusuf Diiriye and Ali Jama Ibrahim were each
given a year and half in jail. The court also ordered the release of
nine terrorism suspects for insufficient evidence, but the public
prosecutor and police commanders refused to comply with the order to
release the nine terrorism suspects which led to protests from their
families and commotion in the court. |
