Hargeysa,
Somaliland, August 1, 2009 (SL Times) – Muhammad Mooge festival, named
after the legendary singer Muhammad Moge Liban, ended this week. The
festival went on for five days at the Workers Hall in Hargeisa. The
festival included plays, poetry and several different kinds of
entertainment. One of the plays was by Abdi Muxumed (Abdi-falaash) and
was about traditional knowledge and raising children. Another play was
about the dangers of illegal travel (tahriib) and was performed by
Walaalaha Togdheer (Togdheer Brothers). A third play was about the
positive use of maritime resources and protecting the sea from illegal
fishing and dumping. This play was composed by Ahmed Aw Geedi and was
performed by the Circus Hargeysa [Kooxda Qalaamo-rogadka ee HAVAYOCO].
The fourth play was entitled “Baqayo Roged” and was composed by
Abdirahman Yusuf Artan and performed by SOCSA.
The celebration was capped by poet Hadrawi who recited a poem called
DHUL-GARIIR.
