Hargeysa, Somaliland, August 8, 2009 (SL Times) – Ali Muhammad Guleed (Ali Marshal) was buried on Friday. Thousands of people participated in the burial ceremony. Family members flew from abroad to say farewell to their beloved. Somaliland and Somalilanders everywhere are grieving for the loss of one of their illustrious sons.
Ali Muhammad Guleed (Ali Marshal) was KULMIYE party’s campaign manager for the western regions. He died in a car accident. He and other Kulmiye officials were on their way to Berbera airport to welcome KULMIYE’s Chairman, Ahmed Sillanyo, who was coming back from Nairobi. The Second Deputy Chairman Mr. Abdirahman Abdilqaadir Farah was also seriously injured in this accident. Muhammad Hashi and journalist Abdiqani Hussein Baynah suffered less serious injuries.
Somaliland’s leaders, including the Chairman of the Upper House, the Speaker of Parliament, the Chairman of KULMIYE, other KULMIYE officials, high officials of UCID, government ministers, Sultans, religious personalities, as well as ordinary citizens, all took part in the burial ceremony.
The Second Deputy Chairman of KULMIYE, Mr. Abdirahman Abdilqaadir Farah, was flown on a special airplane to Nairobi for treatment.
The Somaliland Times sends its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of Ali Muhammad Guleed, and we wish a speedy recovery to Abdirahman Abdilqaadir Farah and the others who were injured.
