Somaliland: Riyale, Interpeace And The Server

By Abdi Ahmed Digale (Digale)

Since the establishment of its own independent state, on 18 may 1991 Somaliland was growing forward in terms of education, economy, diplomacy , military and all the other fields concern social aspects. Thus Somaliland does not accept what deviates from stepping to the positive direction, therefore to rescue and save the growing civilization of Somaliland is to conduct free and fair elections with the help of the available cards. Somaliland people, international organizations and other western donors had spent time and fund to make both identity and voting cards for Somali Landers so as to manage elections in better way, moreover using the electronic cards is not easy job and some times even the developed countries face lot of treble and difficulties during elections.

Though this project of making the voting cards is a semi failed system yet good amount of cards are available to the committee of the elections. Recently emerged tension of the election issue and misunderstanding between the commissioners and Interpeace agency developed a confuse situation among the three political parties where the ruling party is satisfied with conducting the election with out voting cards while the two right wing parties are insisting on employing the available cards in the elections. on the other hand, Somaliland elders intellectuals and educators have a long tradition and experience for solving any dispute arising among the people government and political parties.

Moreover, glancing back briefly at the harsh period during struggling for the freedom of Somaliland thousands of Somali Landers martyred and lost their lives for that freedom where the people still re-count and remember the extremely painful days and massive massacre committed by the former totalitarian government. Thus Somaliland is not in a position to travel back to a dark age, by now it has marvelous opportunity to step forward avoiding any setbacks. All the political parties should put side egoism and obstinacy in order to overcome obstacles collectively and creating effectively social programmes benefiting the people.

Particularly, the ruling party (UDUB) is responsible for whatever happening in the country, hence it has to control and manage emerging dispute issues related to the presidential elections losing no endurance and compromise so as to freeze the escalating misunderstandings among the political parties and also commissioners because Somaliland enemy and even the western nations who contributed the government with expenditure for the elections are viewing the situation and observe how Somaliland manages the coming up presidential election.

Also, Somaliland nowadays is engulfed and shaded by the tensions and misunderstandings which concern the election, eventually the masses, government and political parties should maintain the peace, stability and order in the state because we are closely watching what happens every day in our Somali neighbor provinces and regions.
