Nairobi,
September 26, 2009 – A BUSINESSMAN who regularly visits Kenya has come
up with a way of raising money for the country's drought-stricken
regions.
Peter Wright, who visits Africa three times a year, has seen the effects
of the drought first hand and came up with the idea of producing a
typical Kenyan vegetarian lunch as a way of raising money.
The Kenyan lunch will be held at the church hall, St Mary's Church,
Attleborough, on Saturday, October 10 from 12.30 - 3pm.
All funds raised will go directly to support ActionAid's Horn of Africa
Food Crisis Appeal. The charity has stated that East Africa is
experiencing serious food shortages triggered by the failure of seasonal
rains. Communities have lost their harvests resulting in at least 7
million people facing hunger in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Somaliland.
Peter told the Mercury: “I often eat these dishes when I am in Kenya and
I find them delicious. I have tried them out on family and friends and
they agree! And the Kenyan doughnuts (Mandazi) make an excellent
dessert!”
The price is £5 (£2 for the Mandazi plus tea/coffee).
