Somaliland, September 26, 2009 (SL Times) – The Manager of Kulmiye
Party’s presidential campaign in the western regions, Eng. Bashe A.
Gabobe warned Somaliland’s Upper House not to extend President Dahir
Rayale Kahin’s term in office. He said a unilateral extension of the
president’s term will not be accepted by the political parties and will
not solve Somaliland’s political problem.
Eng. Gabobe sent condolences to the families of those who were killed in
the Sept.12 parliamentary demonstration and urged the government to
bring to justice those responsible for the murders. He also pointed out
that at a time when so many people are facing economic hardship, the
government is spending public money to bribe some members of the Upper
House so that they would extend the president’s stay in office.
Eng. Gabobe held the press conference at Haraf hotel.
The Upper House had already extended the president’s term twice.
