Hargeysa, Somaliland, October 10, 2009 (SL Times) –
The manager of Hargeysa’s water department, Eng. Khalif Abdillahi
Hussein held a press conference in his office in which he acknowledged
the shortage of water supplies in some neighborhoods of Hargeysa.
He said the reason behind the shortage is that the equipment used in
Geed Deeble aquifers were originally meant to provide water for a much
smaller population, and that the number of people living in the city has
grown to more than 800,000.
Eng. Khalif Abdillahi Hussein added that they expect to receive two
machines this month which will improve his department’s capacity to
deliver water to the people of Hargeysa.
The press conference was held on October 6, 2009.
